Dana Schechter – Music Biography 2009

As well as being an animator, I'm a singer, bassist, composer, and producer...I've been playing music since age 9. I'm from San Francisco; I currently live in Brooklyn, and sometimes in Berlin.

As a bassist, I've toured/recorded with international artists AMERICAN MUSIC CLUB (Merge), KEREN ANN (Blue Note/Metro Blue/Capitol-France), BERTRAND BURGALAT (Tricatel/Virgin-EMI France), STEPHAN EICHER (EMI France/CH), TARNATION (4ad/Reprise/Birdman), TOBY DAMMIT (Hit-Thing Recordings), ANGELS OF LIGHT (M. Gira/Young God Records), TARNATION (4AD/Reprise/Birdman), BOTANICA (Rent-a-Dog Records) and APRIL MARCH (PIAS America/Tricatel).

My own group, BEE AND FLOWER, has released 2 Studio Albums, one DVD Music Video, 2 Feature Film Scores, one 7", tracks on 4 Compilations, and cameos in several Independent Films and Radio Features. Most recent activity includes a track for a Scott Walker compilation CD (4/09) in conjunction with the film release of"Scott Walker 30 Century Man"; as of summer 2009, we're working on recording a new album in Berlin.

Bee and Flower recorded our 2nd album, “Last Sight of Land” (tuition music, Germany), in Berlin, featuring special guests from NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS, IGGY POP, SWANS, LES HOMMES SAUVAGES, and more. This album follows up 2003 critically acclaimed debut “What’s Mine Is Yours” (Neurot Recordings). B&F Film Scoring work includes award winning films"Dead Dogs Lie" and "A Good Night to Die". We are currently working on our 3rd album (Fall 2009) in NYC and Berlin.
