DANA SCHECHTER (SOLO)

I am writing a live set of all solo material on Lap Steel, bass, and synths. Live shows are starting Fall 2026.

ANJE HUWE
Bass
Anja Huwe is the iconic singer and frontwoman of the pioneering 1980s German post-punk/Gothic rock band Xmal Deutschland. After focusing on a successful career in visual arts, she returned to music with the critically acclaimed 2024 solo album Codes, produced alongside Mona Mur.

INSECT ARK
Founder, composer, bass, lap steel, electronics
My band: an experimental "ambient-noise-metal' project, equally inspired by horror film soundtracks, metal, psych, and classical music.
The band weaves together layers of lap steel, bass, drums, synthesizers, and vocals.
Started as a one-woman noise project, later growing into a duo then a trio, Insect Ark now has 10 published releases.

DANA SCHECHTER AND PAUL WALLFISCH
Composer, bass, lap steel, electronics, synths
Our LP "The Heart of a Whale", was released in 2025 on Trost Records. Paul Wallfisch and I co-wrote the music which was originally composed and performed live for the play "Der Politiker", directed by Kay Voges at Volkstheater Vienna, between Sept 2021 - May 2022.

2020 - 2025: band member/touring/recording
Albums since I joined include "Newly Sentient Being" (2026), "The Beggar" (2023) "Birthing" (2025), "Live Rope" (recorded on tour in 2024), and "Leaving Meaning" (2020)
I was also a member of Angels of Light, Michael Gira's interim Swans project from 2001-2004.

DANA SCHECHTER + MONOCUBE
Composer, bass, lap steel, electronics
The premier live performance of a new work, "Blue Ocean/Black Sea" will be at Blaues Rauchen Festival, Germany, June 2026. An audio-visual piece between Schechter and Berlin-based modular synth Dark Ambient artist Monocube uses heavily treated modular synths, bass, and lapsteel guitar. The work is a cross section of their relative sonic and visual fascinations.
